Ms Jackson said universities were also pleased to see the appointment of Brendan O鈥機onnor as Shadow Minister for Science and Industry.
鈥淏rendan O鈥機onnor has served in many Ministerial and Shadow Ministerial roles and has a wealth of experience to bring to this role,鈥 Ms Jackson said.
鈥淭hat wide-ranging insight of the economic and social benefits of a strong research sector will be valuable.鈥
Ms Jackson also congratulated former NSW Deputy Opposition Leader Linda Burney on being named the new Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians.
And she welcomed Clare O鈥橬eil as Shadow Minister for Innovation, Technology and the Future of Work, Graham Perrett as Shadow Assistant Minister for Education and Training, and Emma McBride as Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health.
Universities also thanked Senator Kim Carr, who has stepped down from the Shadow Ministry, for his deep dedication and passionate support in the science and research portfolio over many years.
