The Australian Government said聽tonight聽it聽had聽accepted the advice of health officials to extend the travel聽restrictions聽for a聽further聽week, when聽the situation聽will be reviewed again.

鈥淥ur universities have strong risk management and mitigation strategies, and we have been planning for all eventualities,鈥 she said.
鈥淯niversities will be in聽swift聽contact with our Chinese students to ensure they understand how the extension of travel restrictions affect聽them, and to provide support.鈥
鈥淯niversities are working hard to聽offer聽students who remain in China a range of options.
鈥淭hese include being able to access course content online, postponing course start dates, delaying assessments or offering fee-free deferrals.鈥
Ms Jackson said there was close cooperation between the higher education sector, Education Minister Dan Tehan and a range of government agencies.
鈥淲e will continue to work collaboratively with the Minister to ensure maximum flexibility for students, and meticulously聽follow the medical advice provided by the Government.
鈥淭he safety of students, at home and abroad, is our top priority.鈥
鈥淲e know the decision to extend these restrictions will be difficult for many students during what is already a very stressful time.鈥
