鈥淎lmost every student who is unable to enter Australia has now been contacted by their university. They鈥檝e been offered support, reassurance and revised plans for this semester.鈥
Ms聽Jackson said universities had implemented聽all of聽Australia鈥檚 official health advice rigorously.
鈥淔rom the start of this evolving situation with COVID-19, Australia鈥檚 universities have adhered meticulously to the advice of Australian health authorities. We will continue to do so.鈥
Ms Jackson said it was difficult to estimate the financial impact of the travel restrictions, but 鈥渙ur bottom line is looking after our students.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 too early to know the full financial impact on universities, and on the Australian economy more broadly,鈥 she said.
鈥淎 lot will depend on how long travel restrictions continue, and the mitigating effect of flexible study options.鈥
鈥淏ut we expect there will be some financial repercussions and they are a matter of ongoing analysis and conversation with Government.鈥
鈥淭he safety and wellbeing of all members of our communities is our utmost priority.鈥
