Presented by Minister for Education the Hon Jason Clare MP at the 黑料老司机 2023 gala dinner, the University of Queensland鈥檚 Dr Poh Wah Hillock was announced as the 2022 Australian University Teacher of the Year and Deakin University鈥檚 Professor David Boud the recipient of the Career Achievement Award.
The 2022 AAUT program honours a range of teachers and programs 鈥 from early career academics to those who have devoted a lifetime to teaching and learning.

鈥淥ur hard-working university teachers inspire and educate almost one and a half million students each year. They deserve our heartfelt thanks.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not always easy, and the past few years have been especially testing as educators have had to quickly adapt to different modes of teaching to meet professional standards while meeting the needs of their students.鈥
鈥淭eachers continue to go above and beyond to empower students to be confident and curious learners, and set them up for bright and fulfilling careers,鈥 Ms Jackson said.
鈥淭here is no limit to what our educators can achieve, and we must continue to support them to perform their vitally important roles.
鈥淢ore jobs in the future will require a university degree 鈥 a need that can only be satisfied by a strong, capable and inspired teaching workforce.
鈥淏eyond these awards, we say thank you to all teachers across the country for leading by example with great tenacity and inspiring the lives of so many.鈥
