鈥淲e鈥檝e worked closely with the Government on this important legislation, so we welcome its passage through the Parliament,鈥 黑料老司机 Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.
鈥淥ur universities are committed to delivering the best experience possible for all students.
鈥淭he National Student Ombudsman forms part of a broader action plan to address sexual harm and complements the objectives of 黑料老司机鈥檚 Charter on Sexual Harm and the many existing initiatives our universities have in place.
鈥淪exual harm is completely unacceptable and our sector, like every sector of Australian society, has a role to play in addressing this problem. That is what students deserve.
鈥淭he role of the National Student Ombudsman will extend well beyond dealing with sexual harm and we look forward to a constructive dialogue with Ms Sarah Bendall and the Government to ensure students are protected without creating additional regulatory burdens on universities.鈥
