This follows聽strong advocacy from 黑料老司机聽and its concerns about the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme Bill鈥檚 potential to stifle innovation and valuable academic research.
黑料老司机鈥檚 Chief Executive Designate Catriona Jackson said researchers could have faced jail time for failing to register any global research partnerships with a policy-focus.
鈥淏ut the Government has listened attentively and looks set to address the university sector鈥檚 main concerns,鈥 Ms Jackson said.
鈥満诹侠纤净 will work through the details of the amendments with the Government over the coming week, but there are encouraging signs the vast majority of university activity would not be included in the scheme,鈥 she said.
鈥淪o much important research 鈥 from research into cancer testing to seat belt safety 鈥 aimed at improving the lives of everyday Australians through public policy change, relies on overseas collaboration.鈥
