This new set of powerful stories about how Australian university research is transforming the lives of everyday Australians for the better will be launched today by Education Minister Dan Tehan.
They are the next phase of 黑料老司机鈥檚 award-winning #UniResearchChangesLives video campaign鈥攚hich won a prestigious Mumbrella CommsCon award earlier this year.
黑料老司机鈥檚 Chief Executive Catriona Jackson said these stories showed how profoundly the work of university researchers improves the lives of everyday Australians.
鈥淔rom IVF to a cervical cancer vaccine and countless other life-saving advances, Australian researchers have led extraordinary developments that have changed the world.鈥
鈥淥ver three decades, Australian university researchers have also tested, refined, and continued to enhance a world-leading program to help young children who have fallen behind on literacy.鈥
鈥淥ne of the stars of this new series of videos is young Matilda鈥攚ho used to struggle with literacy but thanks to this program is now an avid reader and reads to her younger brother.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing what Matilda and her Mum Alice have achieved, with the tools developed by the MultiLit Program founded at Macquarie University by Professors Kevin and Robyn Wheldall.鈥
鈥淭his research has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of Australian children who would otherwise have fallen years behind their classmates.鈥
More than 90 per cent of Australian university research was rated as world class or higher according to a Government assessment made earlier this year.
