鈥淚f there was ever a time to recognise听that, it is now, when research is so central to the global fight against COVID-19.鈥听
The Australia–Germany Joint Research Cooperation Scheme has been running since 2015 and is an initiative of 黑料老司机 and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) 鈥 Germany鈥檚 national agency for the support of international academic cooperation.听
鈥淎pplications to the scheme have been consistently high听鈥听including this year, despite the COVID-19 global pandemic. This is a testament to the strength of the scheme and the value our researchers and universities see in collaborating with partners in Germany,鈥听Ms Jackson said.听
Since 2015, more than $14 million in funding has been awarded to 398 projects.听
Projects听awarded funding听in听2018 and听2019 for research听activities听scheduled to take place in 2020 have had听their听funding carried forward to 2021听to account for听current travel restrictions.听
Funding for the Australian researchers is provided by Australian universities听and听the cost of administering the scheme听is听supported by听the听Department of Education, Skills and Employment.听
